Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong jumps onstage to sing ‘Basket Case’ with covers band

The cover band's singer's jaw instantly dropped.

Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong made a covers band freak out on Saturday night (May 13), when he jumped on stage to help them sing ‘Basket Case.’

The alt-rock covers band 'Borderline Toxic' were performing at Slim Jim’s Liquor Store in London on Saturday night, and decided to cover the Green Day song.

In a video posted by Green Day’s official TikTok, it shows Armstrong jumping onstage and grabbing the microphone off the singer Kerry Glass, who’s jaw instantly drops.

Armstrong sings the song by himself for a little bit, while the crowd and band are fizzing. Glass then joins Armstrong on the mic together.

The video has gone viral after Green Day’s official social accounts posted the video alongside the caption, ‘When you walk into a pub and the cover band starts playing your song.’

Borderline Toxic's official account posted a different angle of the suprise appearance, with the caption: "Billie Joe Armstrong from @GreenDay got on stage with us last night at our favourite London dive bar!!!! Brb screaming/crying/spewing"

We have to note that the sound in the phone-shot-video is a little dodgy as the vocals are a little bit drowned out by the drums, but it’s still a pretty wholesome watch. (If you’ve ever shot a video on your phone at a concert, you’d understand.)

Also, someone on TikTok pointed out that the bassist looks like Johnny Sins and we have no idea who that is so no comment.
