Watch: Royal Blood get royally pissed off with ‘pathetic’ crowd at UK festival, storm off stage

“Who likes rock music? Nine people. Brilliant."

Royal Blood weren’t having a bar of the crowd at BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend festival last weekend, labelling concert-goers as ‘pathetic’ and flipping them off as they left the stage towards the end of their set.

The Radio 1 festival featured mostly pop and mainstream music acts, such as Lewis Capaldi and Niall Horan - but they added a couple of rock acts onto the line up, including Nothing But Thieves and of course, Royal Blood.

The line-up made sense for the radio station, with Radio 1 playing mostly mainstream music during the day, and venturing into more modern rock music at night.

Apparently Royal Blood weren’t a fan of the crowd that the festival drew in, with a video circulating Twitter showing frontman Mike Kerr sounding very unenthused.

“Well, I guess I should introduce ourselves seeing as no one actually knows who we are. We’re called Royal Blood, and this is, uh, rock music?”, he asks the crowd.

“Who likes rock music? Nine people. Brilliant. This is Ben Thatcher. He plays drums. Everybody say hi to Ben, please. We’re having to clap ourselves because that was so pathetic. Well done, Ben,” he continues, as he claps for Thatcher.

Kerr then looks past the camera, presumably to a worker off stage, and says “Will you clap for us? Will you clap? You’re busy. Can you clap? He’s busy — yes!

“Even he’s clapping. What does that say about you?” he asks the crowd.

The British rock-duo then play one disgruntled note before Kerr lays his guitar on the stage floor, Thatcher gets up from behind his drum kit, and the two walk off-stage with Kerr’s middle fingers in the air.

I’ll be honest - the video of the ordeal is honestly pretty funny to watch, but I bet the Royal Blood boys weren't laughing.

To be fair, it is a bit of a dick move to not even give the crowd a real chance, who from watching the video, actually didn’t look that dead. They might have even been able to score some new fans.

Either way, Royal Blood’s new album Back To The Water Below is set to arrive September 8th, and there are definitely more than nine people waiting for that.
