Tenacious D’s Jack Black sang Ozzy Osbourne’s metal anthem ‘Mr. Crowley’ at Tom Morello’s mum’s 100th birthday party over the weekend - what a sentence.

Mary Morello turned 100 on Sunday (October 1), and her celebrations involved a shindig with a guest list including her son and his bandmates Zack de la Rocha, Tim Commerford and Brad Wilk, as well as other artists like Jane’s Addiction’s Perry Farrell and System of a Down’s Serj Tankian.

The RATM founder and guitarist shared a clip to Instagram of his mum’s celebrations, where Jack Black is seen fronting a School-of-Rock-esque rock band, made up of Tom’s 12-year-old son Roman on lead guitar, 13-year-old Japanese prodigy Yoyoka on drums, Roya Feiz on bass and Hugo Weiss on keyboard.

The band of pre-teens nailed the instrumental elements - Tom’s son Roman killed Randy Rhodes’ part on guitar, and in fact, each kid got a moment to shine during the performance which they nailed. Of course Jack Black belted out Ozzy’s lyrics, which were inspired by occultist Aleister Crowley.

Tom shared the clip to Instagram along with the caption, ‘Mary Morello’s 100th bday celebration featured a stirring rendition of @ozzyosbourne & #RandyRhoads “Mr. Crowley” performed by @jackblack and a kick ass band of 12 & 13 year olds! Mary was pleased!’

It’s always epic to see young bucks getting amongst some rock music.

While we’re on the topic of jack Black - earlier today (October 5), Tenacious D announced their first full UK tour in 11 years, dubbed the ‘Tenacious D and the Spicy Meatball Tour.’ If you happen to be headed over there next year, you may wanna check out the event and ticket details.
