One of the GOATS of metal music, Serj Tankian, has announced he's written a book that's set to drop next year.
The System of a Down frontman, who splits his time between living in New Zealand and the US, has penned "a memoir (of sorts)" called 'Down With The System' - see what he did there?
"Boom! - I wrote a new book," he wrote on Instagram.
"I had a blast working on this accidentally hatched philosophical memoir as it’s given me the unique opportunity to deep dive into my family history, my own motivations from a young age and lessons I didn’t know I had learned."
Pre-orders for 'Down With The System' are already online, but it'll be officially released in May 2024.
The publishers of the book say readers will be in for a wild ride, which makes sense if you've ever watched a SOAD music video or live show.
“Serj has never been a conventional rock star and this isn’t a conventional memoir," commissioning editor Richard Roper said.
We are absolutely thrilled to be publishing this forthright, funny, and gloriously entertaining book – Serj’s fans are going to absolutely love it.
SOAD devotees will already know that alongside his musical talents, Serj is a seriously eloquent man and a hell of a nice guy with more than a few tales to tell.
We got a glimpse at that first-hand earlier this year, when we chatted to him about losing friends, why he moved to NZ and the SOAD + Chili Peppers gig that Aotearoa almost got.
