Devilskin cover Heart’s ‘Barracuda’ as part of 10th anniversary celebrations for debut album

“Releasing ‘Barracuda’ for us, is like a gift back to our audience and the really amazing people we’ve had the good fortune to meet over the years."

Devilskin have released a cover of Heart’s 1977 classic ‘Barracuda,' and it’s a bloody goodie.

The band’s 10 year anniversary of their debut album We Rise is coming up this year, and to celebrate, they’re “unveiling the next chapter of Devilskin with a nod to our roots,” they said in an Instagram post.

To kick off their “many offerings,” they debuted their rendition of ‘Barracuda’ along with a video-visualiser on their YouTube channel on Friday (May 8), which you can watch up top.

Bassist Paul told Heavy Mag: “This is one of those songs that so many people have tucked away in their favourites and for good reason too–the song is a masterpiece!

“We hadn’t played it live for a few years, but we all still felt a sweet connection with it. So we thought we’d have some fun, and record it as a bonus for our faithful, and of course, to honour our musical heroes.

“Releasing ‘Barracuda’ for us, is like a gift back to our audience and the really amazing people we’ve had the good fortune to meet over the years. It’s a thank you, from the heart.”

Fans are loving the cover, with one person commenting, “I can’t recall many covers that I have found to be as good as the original, but that is definitely one of them. And it just makes sense that this is covered by Devilskin. Drums, bass, guitar and vocals, it all makes sense. Awesome!”

Another commented, “That's one of the better covers of Barracuda I've heard, nice job. Really excited to hear your next chapter because you guys are a great band who have consistently impressed.”

Off the back of releasing the cover, they’ve also re-stocked their most popular merch items, as well as releasing a new ladies’ tee. Check out all of their merch here

The cover is set to be released on all platforms on March 15th - pre-save it here.
