Devilskin to perform acoustic set in Hamilton this weekend after release of new EP 'Surfacing'

One of the great NZ metal bands, Devilskin, have just released their new six-track EP ‘Surfacing’, which you can listen to now.

The EP is made up of three brand new tracks ‘Let Me Breathe,’ ‘Insects’ and ‘Unborn,’ and three live set staples for the band - ‘The Whale Song,’ ‘Holy Diver,’ and of course, Heart’s ‘Barracuda.’

Speaking about the cover tracks, Bassist Paul Martin said, “These tracks were all important parts of Devilskin’s early years as they helped establish the dynamics of our live show since the We Rise 2014 Tour, so it felt right to finally record them for our faithful and give them a home on this record.”

Drummer Nic Martin added, “We gave the world a taste of new material last year with ‘Let Me Breathe’, and now we’re excited to continue looking ahead with new tracks ‘Insects’ and ‘Unborn’.

“Those who have made it to a recent Devilskin headline show may have caught a glimpse of these songs, and we’re all incredibly proud of how they’ve come to life in the studio with Dave Rhodes co-producing.”

To celebrate the release of their new EP, as well as their 10th anniversary for their debut album WE RISE, the band are all set for a twelve-date nationwide tour beginning later this month, featuring special guests Tadpole alongside Emma Dilemma, and Skinny Hobos.

Plus, the band are heading to The Base in Hamilton this Sunday 5th May for an in-store signing session and an exclusive live acoustic performance. Catch them from 1pm outside JB Hi-Fi for the performance, then catch them inside the store to get a copy of your EP signed.

It’s been ten years since the release of their debut album WE RISE, and four years since their fourth album RED - so we’re bloody excited to have some new Devilskin to sink our teeth into.
