New 'Joker' sequel teaser trailer released, and some fans have mixed feelings about it

“I wasn't sure what to think when we found out it would be a musical, but wow, this looks amazing."

An official teaser trailer has dropped for the forthcoming 'Joker' sequel, 'Joker: Folie à Deux,' and it looks bloody epic.

Joaquin Phoenix is returning as Arthur Fleck, the failed-standup-comedian-turned-titular-villain, while Lady Gaga will maker her DC debut as Dr Harleen Quinzel, better known as Harley Quinn. The two meet in Arkham Asylum and fall in love and share madness with eachother... which makes the title make sense.

The title, 'Folie à Deux' loosely translates to 'shared madness' or 'madness for two' in French.

The one aspect of the film that some fans aren't too sure about is the fact that the film will be somewhat of a musical... not officially, but kind of.

Variety reports that the movie will have 15 musical numbers, most of which will be covers. But Director Todd Phillips told The Hollywood Reporter the ‘musical’ label was not something they decided on, but it’s just the continuation of an aspect that’s present in the original movie.

“We never really talked about it like that,” he said. “I like to say it’s a movie where music is an essential element. To me, that doesn't veer too far from the first film."

"Arthur's weird and aloof and all these things, but he has music in him. He has a grace to him. That informed a lot of the dancing in the first film... it didn't feel like that big of a step here.

"It's different, but I think it'll make sense when you see it."

And if the tease trailer is anything to go off, I reckon people shouldn't judge the musical aspect of the film too soon. Since the trailer dropped yesterday (March 10), fans have flocked to the comments to share their excitement for the upcoming movie.

“Imma be honest,” wrote one commenter. “I wasn't sure what to think when we found out it would be a musical, but wow, this looks amazing."

“The clear way the show the border between reality and madness through music is beautiful, and that last shot is pure cinema gold. Very excited for this movie," another wrote.

The stand out of the teaser trailer is without a doubt the final frame.

“That last shot with the lipstick ohhhh man,” said another. “That gave me GOOSEBUMPS," one fan commented.

"Every picture including Joaquin is captivating. So many good shots, the last one is genius. I'm sold," wrote another.

'Joker: Folie à Deux' is set to be released in cinemas on October 4th - we're keen to give this one a watch when it's out.
