Oasis announce ‘Definitely Maybe’ 30th anniversary reissue featuring 16 unheard versions

The reissue offers "a new and compelling understanding" of the process that led to the album as we know it.

Oasis are set to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their debut album Definitely Maybe by releasing a deluxe album, featuring previously unheard recordings and outtakes.

The deluxe album will feature a remastered version of the original 11-track album, as well as 16 previously unheard recordings taken from sessions before the album was released in 1993, UCR reports.

“At the time, the initial recordings felt overly technical and polished, failing to capture the essence of the band,” a statement via NME states.

“The sessions were ultimately scrapped, and the band moved to the remote confines of Sawmills Studios in Cornwall to re-record the album. Eventually, with the addition of Owen Morris joining to complete the definitive mixes, Definitely Maybe was formed.”

The statement continues, “The Monnow Valley recordings and Sawmill outtakes, now unearthed for the first time, offer a new and compelling understanding of the process that led to the finished article.

Plus, an unreleased alternative demo version of ‘Sad Song’, which will feature Liam Gallagher on vocals will also be on the album.

As for the artwork, the original Definitely Maybe art-designer and sleeve photographer Brian Cannon has come back on board to create something new for the reissue.

Definitely Maybe (30th Anniversary Deluxe Edition) will be available as a two-CD, four-LP set, coloured vinyl, cassette and digitally and will arrive on August 30th, the same day that the debut album was released in 1994.
