Rog has absolutely shat the bed and caused $47,000 worth of damage to a Mazda RX-7 which insurance didn’t cover. No. Good. Man.
Last year, Rog was a guest on Season 2, Episode 3 of Mike Dawes and Cole Armstrong’s TV show Wheelburn - a show where NZ celebrities meet all things motorsport.
The Big Dog was up against a couple of other radio hosts in a burnout competition, where he blew it out of the park and took home the big win - and we couldn’t have been prouder.
Mike and Cole thought it’d be a good idea to get Rog back on the seventh episode of the show, for a go at their Mitre 10 Trade Fastest Lap at Hampton Downs… In hindsight, this was a terrible idea.
With Mike in the passenger seat sweating next to Rog, trying to give him instructions, it makes for a stressful watch before the crash even happens.
Then, just over a minute into his lap, Rog gives the corner too much gas, spins out, and absolutely minced the thing.
Thankfully neither Mike or Rog were seriously injured, but Rog did have sore balls afterwards. And a damaged ego. Aaaaand he hasn’t been invited back on the show since.
Rogee managed to cause $47,000 worth of damage to the car, which wasn’t covered by insurance - and you bet your bottom dollar Rog was absolutely sacking it that he’d have to cover the cost.
Thankfully the good buggers at Star Insurance ended up covering it, and like many things in Rog’s life, he didn’t have to pay for it.
