Slipknot release 'No. 9 Iowa Whiskey' to keep you warm this winter

Beat the cold with Slipknot's whiskey...

Slipknot have just announced a new bevvie for all you Maggots, 'No.9 Iowa Whiskey' and 'No. 9 Reserve Iowa Whiskey'.

Made in collaboration with fellow Iowa-based outfit Cedar Ridge Distillery, the whiskey will hit shelves in the US on 10 August, one day after the release of Slipknot's new album, 'We Are Not Your Kind'.  'No. 9 Iowa Whiskey' will sell for US$39.99 and is 90 proof, and 'No. 9 Iowa Reserve Whiskey' will cost US$69.99 and is 99 proof.

The new drop will also be available at tour spots in North America before Slipknot arrive in New Zealand to support Metallica later in the year, but no official word if the boys will bring a few crates down under for Kiwi fans.

"Slipknot and Cedar Ridge Distillery - two groups of people born and raised in Iowa, and committed to quality and hard work," said Shawn "Clown" Crahan. "We collaborated on 'No. 9 Whiskey,' which in addition to Iowa corn, gets some extra spice from its rye content. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do. Live life, and always be safe."

Owner and Founder of Cedar Ridge Distillery Jeff Quint added:

"Our challenge was to produce a whiskey that represents Slipknot’s style of music; something bold, something with distinguished character, something that you don’t exactly come across every day."

It seems they hit the mark, with Forbes whiskey critic Fred Minnick writing:

"Slipknot’s No. 9 single-handily puts Iowa whiskey on the map and is the best liquid distilled there."

Be sure to bring a few bottles to NZ Slipknot, we're keen to try it for ourselves.
