The NBA has suspended its season after one of its players tested positive for coronavirus.
An interesting thread was posted on reddit outlines how we got to this point.
Two days ago, Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert was answering questions in a media room. Usually reporters are right in the face of players asking questions, but as a safety precaution against COVID-19, they were told to keep their distance.
After the conference, he stood up and made sure he touched all of the mics in front of him.
Two days later (today), Gobert was ruled out of today's game against the OKC Thunder due to an "illness".
The Jazz v Thunder game went ahead, but just before tip off, a team doctor was seen racing onto the court, where he talked to officials and players.
Both teams were sent back to the locker rooms. The OKC broadcast team said that because there were illnesses with players prior to the game, Rudy Gobert among them, they were waiting for league approval to proceed.
Then the game was abruptly postponed with the PA making an announcement to the fans in attendance.
The Jazz and Thunder players, including NZ's own Steven Adams are currently quarantined in the arena's locker rooms.
And then a few minutes later - guess what.. Rudy Gobert (the guy who touched the microphones) was tested positive for COVID-19.
You can't make this shit up.
