'You saved my life': Westie Lee's unexpected chat with listener at Guns N' Roses

His highlight of the night had nothing to do with Guns N' Roses.

Guns N' Roses took on Auckland's Eden Park on Saturday night (December 10) and it was an absolute belter.

Westie Lee from The Rock Nights got amongst the gig and bloody loved it - but the highlight of his night had nothing to do with Gunners' performance.

Lee explained that he got a tap on the shoulder at the gig by someone he'd never met before, who pulled him in for a hug, followed by these words:

"I just wanted to say thank you, Westie. You're the reason that I'm still here today.

"I heard you on the radio a while ago talking about how you were struggling with your mental health and how that there is always a way through even if you can't seem to see one. You saved my life that night - I was all set to drop from a chair and then you started talking on the radio in my shed and your voice talked me down.

"I'm now getting the help that I need. Thank you so much"

Lee was absolutely overwhelmed to hear that, hugged the bro a little tighter, and told him "I'm so glad you're still here."

Lee got a bit emotional recalling the story on-air this morning - you can have a watch up top.

And to the person who shoulder-tapped Lee, or anyone who is struggling, we mean it when we say we are so glad you're still here.

Christmas can be a rough time for many people so this is a good reminder to check in on your mates, be kind, and don't be a dick.
