WATCH: First look at Nicolas Cage as Dracula in new trailer for vampire film ‘Renfield’

“I am Dracula!”

The first trailer for Universal Pictures’ Dracula spin-off story has been released, giving us our first look at Nicolas Cage as the ‘Lord of Death’ himself.

The film, called ‘Renfield’ stars Nicholas Hoult, who’s the titular character of Renfield, Dracula’s servant. After centuries of acting as the Count’s servant, Renfield gets fed up with his master’s shenanigans and wants out of the ‘toxic relationship.’

Based on the trailer, it looks like this horror-comedy is gonna be pretty wild, with vampire powers, messy shoot-outs, and Nicolas Cage hovering in a gothic ensemble, declaring “I am Dracula!”

Have a watch of the trailer up top.

The film looks like it’s gonna have similar vibes to Taika Waititi’s What We Do In The Shadows, and we’re not mad about it.

Renfield is directed by Chris McKay and is based on an original idea by the creator of Walking Dead, Robert Kirkman. It’s set to hit NZ cinemas on April 14th.
