Dave Grohl confirms he recorded drums for new Foo Fighters album

Grohl was the man behind the kit for their forthcoming album 'But Here We Are.'

While Josh Freese was announced as Foo Fighters new drummer yesterday during the band’s Global Listening Event, it was also revealed that Dave Grohl was the man behind the drum kit for the forthcoming album But Here We Are.

Two tracks have been released from the album so far, ‘Rescued’ and ‘Under You,’ but no official credits of who plays what have been revealed.

When the band posted a teaser of their lead single last month, a bunch of fans thought the drums sounded like Grohl’s style of playing, while other fans wondered if Taylor Hawkins had recorded the material before he passed.

During the listening live stream yesterday (May 22), Grohl confirmed that it is him playing on the record while having an in-between-songs conversation with their new drummer Josh Freese.

Talking about their newly debuted song ‘Nothing At All,’ Freese said to Grohl:

“When you explained the beat on the record and you’re like, ‘I think I played it with one hand,’ and I’m kinda doing the same thing. It feels good and sounds cool, you know?”

“It was unintentional,” Grohl responded. “I did it when I demoed it at my house, and I’d just woken up and I was tired. But on the shitty drum set at my house, it just kinda sounded better. You’re not hitting the hi-hat and the snare at the same time, so it sort of has more space.”

If you missed out on watching the livestream, you can stream it until 7am this Thursday (May 25) exclusively on Veeps.
